Western Upper Michigan Snowmobile Trail Reports – Lake Gogebic Trail Report, Watersmeet Trail Report, Ironwood, Bessemer, Wakefield Trail Reports
12/16/2024
We have a chance of snow for today, Wednesday, and Thursday. Temps will begin to drop tomorrow, with the teens Wednesday through Saturday the 21st. Please stay on marked trails. Riding on unmarked trails can result in the clubs losing easement for that trail.
Gogebic Range Trail Authority Groomer Report
Please stay off the trails because they are deteriorating due to the lack of snow and the warm weather.
Gogebic Area Groomers Report
Groomer’s are in from another late night. Definitely could tell there’s been a lot of traffic on the trails! 13n, 13s, 102 and 1n were all groomed tonight. 102, all water holes have now frozen up. 13n short section wet that never really freezes over, but nothing to worry about. 13s all water holes frozen in but remains thin towards the south end of the lake. 1n one swamp that hasn’t been crossed yet but will be addressed in the next day or 2. 1s there’s one spot where water is leaching onto the trail but only a few inches deep, and it hasn’t been an issue. (Ride with caution.)
The brief warmup shouldn’t impact us; however, if temperatures remain above freezing, we will most likely hold off on sending out machines tonight. That’s your Saturday evening/Sunday morning update.
U.P. Thunder Riders Trail Report
Drivers just returned and had some tree clearing, but they are happy overall. Our system could definitely use more snow, especially east and south. There are some rocks, dirt, and sand in spots and some really nice spots, so ride with caution. It’s early season, and some areas still need more snow to fill the rough spots. We will not groom until we get more snow. We will update you when we do. Ride Safe and Ride Right.
