TRAIL REPORT

1/3/26

18 degrees this morning and snowing. We`ve picked up around 6″ of snow in the last 24 hrs. too!!!! I gots lots of good news so lets goooo….

Yesterday we took 2 machines w/o drags out on the Falls trail #45 to work on freezing it down. It turned out better than expected!! We did leave the gates closed to let it set up but are planning on running it with a drag probably Monday and SHOULD be able to open `er up!!!

Today we have Groomer Patrick out on the Point Trails #452 & #453 as I type this. This trail is in great shape. I`m heading out the door when I`m done on this thing and runnin south on trail #8. I am gonna skip the swamp for today since we haven`t been in there yet. We plan on taking 2 machines sans drags into that mess tomorrow and see what we got. I think (but not sure) Groomer Keith is hittin the Pine Stump trail #8 also today.

So, there ya go, everythings looking good. COME ON UP!!!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

1/1/26

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!!!

12 degrees this morning and cloudy. I`ve picked up 4-5″ of snow between yesterday and last night here at my place and “they” are calling for 3-6″ more today! A big plus is that it looks like this weather pattern will stick around for at least another week! I`ve got lots of good news on the trails and just a tad of bad so lets get to it……..

First all the good…..We have been VERY busy since my last report. Last Tuesday`s run around the Point trails went very well. Quite a few downed trees but the boys got them all taken care of and the trail groomed up nice. We`ll rate it at really good! Groomer Keith ran to Da Stump Tuesday and said the drifting was “interesting” to say the least thru “Siberia”. He did get it all knocked down and only got stuck 3 times!! Now for a little bit of bad news…..the loggers have got our section of trail #9 plowed down to dirt. This section runs from Pine Stump east to the east branch of the Two Heart river plus a little beyond, about 10 miles worth total. They also have a section of trail #8 just west of Crisp Point plowed down to dirt for about 4 miles. This is unfortunate but hey….they have to make a living too and I am not knocking them. They should be all done in a couple weeks. The rest of the trail is in great shape. That wraps up Tuesday….on to what went on yesterday……

Groomer Keith went back out on trail #8 to da stump to clean things up. Haven`t heard from him this morning yet but I`m sure everything went fine. We sent 2 machines out on trail #8 heading south. We skipped our infamous swamp and started at the river mouth. The trail turned out BEAUTIFUL except for one 100 yard spot on the south end of the power line. There is some open water and mud there and its kinda tough to get around but can be done. With the cold weather and snow predicted it should freeze up in a few days….just keep a heads up. What surprised me the most is the Federal Forest section froze up solid! We left the gates open so we`re good to go in there!!!

We are taking today off and will head to the Falls tomorrow and try to get that passable…..IT IS NOT PASSABLE at this time so don`t go around the CLOSED GATES. After the Falls trail we will head into the swamp south of town.

So there you have it….a complete run down of our system.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

12/30/25

14 degrees this morning and partly cloudy. About all I can say about the last couple days is HOLY WAH…did we ever get hammered with snow and wind!!!! Its impossible to say how much snow cause of all the wind but I`ll just say plenty! Everyone spent all day yesterday clearing snow and today we are hittin the trails wide open. Here`s what we have planned for the next couple days…….

All 3 machines will be out today. We are sending 2 of them on the Point Trails #452 & #453. One will have a drag and the other will be helping clear trees down, we have reports of several down. The other machine will make its way down the Pine Stump trail #8. I can only imagine the drifting in “Siberia”.

Tomorrow we are sending 2 machines, one with a drag the other clearing trees, south on trail #8. We will be skipping the swamp for now and just starting at the river mouth. Not sure right now on the other machine duties. If all goes well we will start working on the Falls trail #45 and then go into the swamp south of town.

It looks like the weather is gonna finally cooperate and its supposed to stay cold and snowy for at least a week or more. We are supposed to get another 6″ plus tonight. I tend to not believe the forecast any more than a week out….LOL.

Sooooooo……with all the snow and cold we are gonna run full blast! It may take a day or two to get everything in shape but we`ll try our best!!! If we can get the swamps filled in we`ll be golden….wish us luck.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12/22/25

12 degrees this morning under a mostly clear sky. Here`s the trail report on how things went yesterday…..

We took 2 machines w/o drags and headed out on the Falls trail #45. Unfortunately I can`t give you any good news. It was U.G.L.Y. In fact, da boss said it was the worst he`s ever seen….bummer. He did say you could make it from the Upper Falls to the Lower to get fuel at the Lower but be careful. From the Lower Falls to Paradise IS NOT PASSABLE!!! There is a video on our FB page to show you how bad it was. We need more snow and cold to even try this again in a groomer. Word of warning…..it is ILLEGAL to ride on M-123 from town to the Falls! Nothing else was run, we need more snow. The Point trails are ridable and the Pine Stump trail is also but thin in a lot of spots. We haven`t ran south on trail #8 since last weekend either. Simply put, we need more snow. This weeks forecast doesn`t look that promising for any great amounts either. Sorry for all the bad news……just being honest.

I`ll let ya`ll know when things start improving.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3/21/2025

Thanks for all the condolences, it helped and meant a lot to me.

Lets talk about the trails…..and the weather…..

36 degrees this morning and sunny as I write this, it was 30 this morning when I crawled outa bed. “They” are saying about 40 today and then drop to around 10 tonight with a little snow…..sounds good to me.

I took a drive around yesterday (I don`t own a sled anymore) and looked at the trails. From what I saw they looked great! Fresh snow from the night before and they were FLAT.

The temps for next week are supposed to see-saw back an forth. If I was you I would get my bunnies U.P. here soon for one last ride!!!!! Ya never know how crazy things will get this time of year.

So……there ya have it…..my professional opinion….LOL

Groomer Chris

3/20/2025

Well, I`m back. Thanks to Joann for giving a couple reports on the trails while I was gone. I lost my Mom so I had a good excuse:(. Sooo….here we go for a good trail run down.

28 degrees this morning and the sun is trying to poke out. I got a solid 4″ of wet heavy snow here at my place last night. I heard out by Pine Stump they got a bit more. We still have a good 2 feet on the ground. Its supposed to be sunny and around mid 30’s today which will thaw out all the roads again and then cool off for the weekend. If you are thinking about one last ride this weekend I say GO FOR IT!!!!

Trails #8 & 9 to Pine Stump are still in good shape.

Trails #452 & 453 around the Point are also in good shape.

Trail #45 to the Falls is also in good shape but you may find some water here an there.

Trail #8 south is still good except for the swamp of course. You may find some water opening up on the power line and in the Federal Forest tho.

All trails are hard and flat but this snow we got last night will help a lot with cooling and the warmer temps will soften them up. We don`t plan on gettin the groomers out unless the traffic gets heavy…but I doubt that….the trails will hold up fine cause they were so hard and icey.

Come on U.P. for one last ride!!!!! The season is closing up fast.

Groomer Chris

3/5/25

34 degrees this morning and raining….WTH? It looks like it might change to wet snow a little later today and then the temps will drop into the 20`s tonight. I guess all I can say is keep an eye on the weather….I know ya`ll do anyhow.

All trails were run yesterday and I talked with every operator and they all said the same thing…..the trails are still in great shape!!!! Even groomer Mike C. who ran the Point trails let the excellent word slip out and I have never heard him say that!!! Yes, they are a little mushy but they are flat!!!!! With the drags that we use we can groom in this warmer weather. With the colder temps at night they will be good to go. I think this weekend will be fine, just expect the paved roads to be bare and the plowed dirt roads that we use for connectors will be down to mud.

Unfortunately, I have a family emergency I have to attend to down state so this will be my last report till at least next week…..sorry. Hopefully somebody else will fill my shoes until I get back if something major happens.

Groomer Chris

3/4/25

33 degrees this morning and cloudy. It hit 44 here at my place yesterday and the sun was out all day…..pretty tough on the trails. All paved roads into and outa town are bare now and the plowed dirt roads we use are all mud again…..bummer. I`m sure ya`ll are watching the weather for whats gonna happen the next couple days. “They” are saying a bunch of rain here and maybe some wet snow, thats not gonna help much. Don`t like to sound so negative but it is what it is. We didn`t run anything yesterday but will run everything today. Once all the guys are done they will let me know how things look and then I`ll let ya`ll know tomorrow morning. Lets see what happens. The good side is there still is a lot of snow in da woods.

Groomer Chris

3/3/25

25 degrees this morning under a partly cloudy sky. Supposed to get up into the upper 30`s today and for the next few but drop below freezing at night. The trails should be fine, still tons of snow on the ground! The plowed dirt road connector routes….just very short distances…..will get tough tho, and I`m thinking the roads into and outa town will get bare again.

All trails were groomed through-out the weekend and every operator has said the same…..the trails are in great shape, some even suggested excellent!!!!

In case you didn`t catch it in my last report. The swamp south of town on trail #8 opened up. It really sucks but ya can`t fight Ole Mother Nature. The gates are closed. Don`t go around them, you will get stuck and we can`t help you. You can ride the UNPLOWED portion of M-123 from the river mouth to the south end of town then you MUST jump onto the town trail. DO NOT run M-123 thru town!!! The law is watching!!!

Come on U.P.!!!!!!!!!!!!    Times are gettin shorter and the days are gettin warmer

Groomer Chris

3/1/25

2 degrees this morning under a partly cloudy sky. Yesterday was an interesting day for sure….it snowed and blowed all day and was quite nasty out der!!! We did get 6-8″ plus with a lot of drifting!!! I got lots of good news and a touch of bad so lets get to it.

First the good. Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails and called them good. Heavy drifting in “siberia” of course.

Groomer Ben hit the Point trails and called them great.

Groomer Gerald ran the Falls trail and called that good.

Groomer Mike C. ran the South trail #8 and called that great…now the bad news part….the swamp south of town opened up big time. He barely made it thru with the groomer and we had to close it down, THE GATES ARE CLOSED, don`t go around them, you will get wet or stuck!!!! The 46 degree day and sunny last Monday really brought the water level up in der. I went thru there on Tuesday with a groomer and broke thru in a lot of places. I then went back on Wednesday with just a machine and spent half the day in there and filled in all the water holes. That lasted just one day and it opened up again….its the high water…..then when Mike went thru there yesterday he barely made it. It just doesn`t make sence to go in there and try and fix it again especially when the temps are gonna rise next week for a few days….sorry…..it sucks. The DNR and law enforcement are aware of the situation. You can ride the UNPLOWED portion of M-123 from the river mouth to the south end of town but the law WILL be watching…UNPLOWED portion is the main word here folks!!!

It looks like March will be up and down on temps (normal) but with all the snow this year the trails will hold up nice. I can see them lasting thru March unless something drastic happens with the temps!

COME ON U.P.!!!! Times a wasting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/28/25

Well, it looks like winter has decided to return! The last couple of days the temps have been in the 30`s, day and night. This morning it is 21 degrees and snowin and blowin HARD. We are under a winter storm warning and “they” are saying anywhere from 4-10″….hmmmmm. As far as the trails….here ya go…..

Groomer Keith hit the Pine Stump trails 8 and 9 yesterday/last night and called them good.

Groomer Ben hit the Point trails 452 and 453 and called them good to go.

Groomer Mike C. hit the south trail 8 and called that good also.

I haven`t heard from the guy that hit the Falls trail 45 but I gotta assume that it is good to go too. We will hit every trail today again and for the weekend then see what happens with the temps. They are supposed to go up again in the beginning of the week for a few days.

All trails are flat cause we can groom with the warmer temps but hard due to the temps turning colder. This snow sure will help with lubrication tho. The warmer weather the last few days did take a toll on the plowed connector dirt roads. They are down to mud….frozen mud now….so a little tough…but only very short distances.

COME ON U.P.!!!!!! Time is runnin out!!!!! There is still A LOT of snow in the woods but It looks like March will be a cycle of warm/cold/warm/cold, so ya never know what will happen next.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/26/25

20 degrees this morning under a bright blue sky. Supposed to get into the mid 30`s today…..bummer….but cool off into the low 20`s at night….that`ll help. Here`s your trail report from yesterday, as promised.

Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and called them good. The short sections of plowed dirt road we use as connecter sections are down to mud tho.

Groomer Mike H. ran the Point trails #452 & #453 and called them good still.

I haven`t heard from the groomer that ran the Falls trail #45 this morning  yet but I`m sure its fine.

I ran the South trail #8 and will call it good also. The swamp south of town gave me a slight problem tho. At the southern end by the gate it started to open up in a few spots. The water was really flowing thru there from Mondays 46 degree day! I`m heading out the door as soon as I finish this and fix that. I will take just a machine and go fill in the wash outs with snow. I did find a bag and a couple other things in the swamp trail. Message us on our FB page and describe the contents and the other stuff and we`ll get it back to ya!

Sooooo…..there ya go…..as promised

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/25/25

33 degrees this morning and cloudy. It is supposed to stay in the mid 30`s today and then drop into the 20`s for tonight. The rest of the week looks like mid 30`s for highs and below freezing at night, then get colder for the weekend. Bad news is I saw 46 here at my place yesterday. We lost some snow (obviously) and the roads are now bare….bummer.

As far as the trails…….nothing was run yesterday but we will run everything today. I`ll let ya`ll know how everything turns out tomorrow morning. Our high ground trails ie….trails #8 and 9 to Pine Stump and the Point trails #452 and 453 should be fine but I`m a little worried about our low ground trails like the Falls trail #45 and the swamp south of town on trail #8. I`ll keep ya`ll well informed, I promise.

C`mon Mother Nature……we need one more month!!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/24/25

35 degrees this morning with a rain/freezing rain mix. We really had a great run in February with snow and cold temps but it looks like the next few days are gonna suck with temps into the upper 30`s. It does look like the temps will drop by the end of the week tho so lets hope we can hold on for one more month!!

As far as the trails go…..they are still in good shape. All operators that groomed yesterday reported them as good. Today is maintenance day so nothing will be run but we`ll hit them all tomorrow. This warm up for the next few days isn`t gonna help but they should hold….at least for our “high ground” trails. We`ll keep a close eye on our “low ground” trails…ie….the Falls trail #45 and the swamp south of town on trail #8.

I see I haven`t given ya`ll a report since the 19th, that`s cause everything has been in great shape. I`ll keep ya`ll better informed since this weather change.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!          we need one more month

Groomer Chris

2/19/25

3 degrees this morning and cloudy. It snowed all day yesterday and half the night last night. I`m gonna say I got a good 6-8″ here at my place in the last 24 hrs. It looks like this weather pattern will hold on till at least through the first week of March…..EPIC!!!

Nothing really to report about the trails. All operators are saying the same….EXCELLENT!!!! I`ll just say this again….if you ain`t U.P. here or don`t have plans to get here…..you are missing out big time!!!!! This is a good ole fashion winter in da U.P.!!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/18/25

11 degrees this morning and snowing….still. I picked up a solid 4″ here at my place last night. The weather this winter has been outstanding, what a difference from last year, eh? It looks like it will keep up into the forseeable future too!

As far as the trails go…..I`m still gonna use the word EPIC. It plain just don`t get any better! Yesterday was maintenance day so nobody was out but we will hit them full bore today.

I just don`t have anything more to report. The weather is EPIC…..the trails are EPIC….its all good folks…..come on U.P. or you`ll miss out!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/16/25

14 degrees this morning and snowing-n-blowing. I`ve got a wind chill reading of -5 here. Hard to say how much snow we got last night cause of the wind, but I`ll call 2-3″ easy. According to the weather guessers its supposed to be cold and snowy all next week…..PERFECT!!!! On to the trails…….

Traffic was heavy again this weekend but the trails handled them very well and all operators are saying the same about their trails……PERFECT!!! I did have a SMALL problem in the swamp south of town. A couple of SMALL spots opened up in the southern section. They weren`t there on my way out but opened up during the day. I got them filled in on my way back so no problem. ALWAYS be cautious in there and slow down cause you never know what might open up. Swamp water is warmer and its still flowing some in there.

If you are thinking about coming U.P. this week or weekend DO IT!!!!!! It just doesn`t get any better. If you can swing it, come U.P. during the week….less traffic.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/14/25

6 degrees this morning and snowing. I would say we picked up close to a foot in the last 24 hrs.!!!! I read somewhere that the Paradise area has recieved 224 inches so far this year…..thats a lot of snow folks!!!!!! I am actually runnin outa room to put it around my place.

Now, about the trails…..one word……EPIC!!!! They are beyond excellent, they just don`t/can`t get any better. That is the first time in my 24 yrs. of grooming I have used that word!!!!

On to something else since I can`t report anything better about the trails. I want to give a huge shout out to all the riders that have stopped and helped us when they see us stopped on the trail to do some brushing. I stopped about 5 times yesterday to take care of some face slappers and every time the groups that came across me stopped and helped throw the stuff off the trail. That means a lot to us….it shows your appreciation for the long hours we put in for you!!!!  THANK YOU!!! Also, it seems people are gettin better at gettin outa our way when you see us coming and not flying by us from behind either. Maybe my post from the other day helped educate some of you? Anyways, THANK YOU again.

EPIC is the word for the day!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2/11/25

I crawled outa bed this morning at 0630 and flipped on my outside deck lights and said “holy wah” its gonna be a busy day! It was 5 degrees and I had a solid 7″ of fresh snow on my deck!!! It is now 0830 with a bright sunny sky and 7 degrees.

I am not on the schedule to groom today but I wish I was, its gonna be a blast for the guys that are on!! I`ll spend the day digging out…not so much fun.

All trails will be run today but I don`t even have to wait to hear from the guys cause I know all trails will be EXCELLENT and I don`t use that word very often! Thats all I have to say about the trails so here are a few tips for you when you come upon a groomer on the trails. I mention these cause it sure helps us on a long day on the trails and its safer for everyone. Plus. it seems to be a problem every year.

Tip #1…..When you see a groomer coming at you start looking for a good spot to get off the trail and get outa our way so we don`t have to stop or try and squeeze by….this happens WAY to often and it makes for a much longer day for us. Remember we CAN NOT get off the trail and we DO have the right of way.

Tip #2…..When you approach a groomer from behind, follow us SLOWLY from 50′ back. Please stay off the brap lever so you don`t tear up the fresh groom. We will let you by as soon as possible. DO NOT just try and fly by us!!!!!

Tip #3……We would rather see hand signals for how many ppl. are behind you in your group or for the last person rather than a thumbs up or even a wave.

This concludes the days lesson on “How to get around a groomer on the trail”. Please try and follow these tips. Its MUCH safer for everyone involved. THANK YOU!!!!!!    HAVE A SAFE RIDE!!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12 degrees this morning and sunny. I picked up about an inch of snow here at my place last night. We sure didn`t get the snow the weather guessers were talking about but the temps remain in the teens…so…..all good. “They” are talking some LE for the next couple days so we`ll see how that pans out.

Nothing really to report about the trails. All operators are saying the trails are BEAUTIFUL!!!! All feed back I`m seeing on our FB page is saying the same. It doesn`t get any better than this folks!!!! If you ain`t U.P. here or don`t have plans to be U.P. here you are missing out!!!! Its worth the couple hour extra drive to get here!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2/9/25

18 degrees this morning and partly cloudy. I picked up about 5″ of fluff last night on my deck. Its supposed to snow for the next couple days and stay cold for the next week…..perfect!

Traffic was heavy yesterday but all trails groomed up nice. Everything will get hit again today/tonight. All operators rated them good to great once they got done.

Bout all I got to report. Everything is perfect….COME ON U.P.!!!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2/7/25

14 degrees this morning and snowing HARD on and off! Ole Mother Nature thru a hissy fit last night. It was blowing and snowing so hard it turned into a tough night for the groomers. One guy even had to stop cause he couldn`t see where he was going and almost got lost off the trail! Hard to say how much snow we got outa this but I`ll call 5-6″ and a couple more this morning so far. Lots to tell ya`s so here we go……

Groomer Ben ran the Point trails #452 and #453 and called them excellent!

Groomer Mike H. hit the Falls trail #45 and said it was VERY rough on his way out but got it back to good on his way back.

Groomer Keith hit the Pine Stump trails 8/9 and called them good with a ton of drifting in “Siberia”……of course.

I ran trail #8 south and will call it good. The only exception is the swamp south of town which was beat on both the way out and the way back, I`ll rate that as just barely fair. A large water hole broke open about in the middle of da swamp but I was able to get it filled back in. If people would just slow down in there and stay off the hammer it would hold up a lot better.

All trails will be hit about around the clock this weekend so we can try to keep up. Keep a sharp eye out for the groomers, you may see them anytime and anywhere. PLEASE SLOW DOWN folks. Its gonna be busy out der!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/5/25

15 degrees this morning and cloudy. I picked up about 2″ of snow last night on my deck and it looks like more is coming according to the weather guessers. We have at least 3′ on the ground in case you are wondering. Nothing but good news from yesterday so here we go…….

Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails 8 & 9 and called them good. As usual, there is some drifting in “siberia” so be careful in that section.

Groomer Gerald ran the Falls trail #45 and called that good.

Groomer Ben ran the South trail #8 but I haven`t heard from him but I gotta assume its in great shape too.

Now we get to Groomer Mike H. He`s our comic relief at da barn. He`s got his own rating system and he always dares me to use it but I can`t cause I`m afraid I`ll offend someone. He ran the Point trails #452 and #452 and lets just say he calls them excellent!

Soooo……it doesn`t get any better folks. The weather is great…..the trails are great and the traffic is kinda low. Paradise is a little slow this year???? Don`t know why. I know my business is unusually slow. Come on over to a smaller town and enjoy it here. Shorter wait at the restaurants and gas stations.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/4/25

12 degrees this morning with a light snow falling. I picked up a solid 4″ here at my place last night too.

Yesterday was a “maintenance day” so no trails were run. What we do is go over all our machines and drags with a fine tooth comb. We grease up chassis underneath the groomers and just plain check everything out.

All trails will be run today. They are all in great shape and with this snow we got last night you might see that excellent word come out again. Come on U.P.!!!! You can`t get any better than this and the traffic volume is low and it looks like the weather is gonna keep cooperating.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groomer Chris

2/2/25

19 degrees this morning and snowin- n- blowing! Picked up maybe an inch or two last night and “they” are calling for an inch or two more today. Good news/bad news for the trails so lets get to it……

Very heavy traffic this weekend so bad news is they got pretty beat up. Good news is they all groomed up nice. Groomer Mike C. ran the Pine Stump trails and reported them good. Groomer Mike H. hit the Falls trail and reported it as good plus after he got done. We did not hit the Point trails yesterday but they are gettin run as I type this.

Now a little bad…..we had a break down Friday on the South trail. Only the first 15 miles or so got run cause we sprung a hydraulic leak and had to limp the machine back to the barn…luckily Groomer Dave made it back. Soooo…..if you were riding the South trail late Friday or early Saturday you ran into some pretty rough stuff. Good news is we got it fixed Friday night and I ran the trail Saturday and it groomed up nice. A little more bad news is a water hole opened up in da swamp Saturday late afternoon. It was about 5′ long and 3′ deep and all across the trail so it was difficult to get around. Good news is I got it filled in on my way back thru, it wasn`t there on my way out, and its all good now. This futher shows why I say slow down and take it easy in that section!

Speaking of slowing down. We had A LOT of speed freaks out on the trails this weekend. PLEASE SLOW DOWN when the trails are busy!!!!! Imagine flying around a corner and hittin a family with kids just because you are being an idiot and thinking you`re Jonny racer!!! SLOW THE HELL DOWN PEOPLE on busy weekends or any time for that matter. Groomer Mike H. even had some sleds fly by him at 60-70 MPH in the machine!!! SLOW THE HELL DOWN PEOPLE!!!!!! When you come up on a groomer we expect you to pass by at a walking speed!!!

All I have for today.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

18 degrees this morning and cloudy. We picked up just a dusting of snow in the last 24 hrs. We have a solid 3′ on the ground right now around here. Good news about yesterday so here we go……..

I was the only one to run yesterday because we wanted a quick back up available just in case I got myself in trouble in da swamp south of town. I took a drag thru there for the first time this year. It turned out decent and plenty ridable. It is narrow in a couple spots and there are a few wet spots you have to be careful of but all in all I`ll rate is as fair. We have some brushing to do in there also. I can`t say this enough…..when you go thru the swamp south of town PLEASE take it easy. If you blast thru a wet spot you WILL get covered with mud, stay on the groomed trail, if you get off trail you may sink up to your armpits in mud, consider youself warned but don`t let me scare you away, it is safe, just slow down and ride smart. Being we have the gates open now law enforcement will not be as lenient on riding down the side of M-123 into town. Now, onto whats going on for today……

Thats easy…..our entire system is gonna be run today. This is the I-500 weekend so the trails are gonna be busy. We will run about around the clock to try and keep U.P.

OK, all I have.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11 degrees this morning and a light snow falling. It snowed and blowed really hard here yesterday for a few hrs. then chilled out over night. I think we picked up around 3-4″. The LE machine is supposed to kick into high gear today and “they” are saying 3-6″ more……we`ll see. I got really good news from yesterday so lets get to it……..

Me and Groomer Mike C. took 2 machines sans drags and headed into da swamp south of town. We worked most of the day in there and FINALLY got `er passable!!!! We will let it set today and then pull a drag thru tomorrow. Now, keep in mind, it won`t be perfect but ridable and safe. A couple places will be only one groomer width wide so take it slow in there…..PLEASE!!!

Today we are runnin our entire system (except swamp). All trails are in beautiful shape!!!!! COME ON U.P.!!!!! You are missing out if you don`t!!!!!!

20 degrees this morning and snowing. I picked up another 4-5″ here at my place in the last 24 hrs. Just in case your wondering, we have close to 3′ on the ground around here. Here`s whats been going on with the trails……

The traffic has been VERY heavy this weekend. We ran all the trails Friday and Saturday and will run them all again today/tonight. They are all in great shape….snow wise….but do take a beating with the heavy traffic. One thing to remember on the Falls trail #45….stay on the trail! If you ride off the trail in the swampy sections you will sink in the mud. We sunk a groomer a bit in the mud by just gettin off a touch and broke thru the ice and had to call for help to tow it out of the mud! Once we get everything groomed up today/tonight we will take the day off tomorrow and take 2 machines into the swamp south of town and work on that. We are REALLY trying to get that section open to get the traffic off of M-123 coming into town from the south.

So there you have it. Trails are in GREAT shape!!!! Come on UP!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We ran the Point trails, Falls trail and da Stump trail yesterday/last night and all operators reported them as good plus. We will run the South trail #8 today and probably a couple others. 10 degrees this morning with a light snow falling. We are under a winter storm warning until tonight. “They” are calling for 5-10″, depends who you watch. I have some really good news and unfortunately some not so good so lets get to it……

Groomer Mike H. ran the Point trails yesterday and called them in great shape. With all the recent snow and cold even the Doe Lake Rd. ridge thats been thin all season is good to go.

I ran the South trail #8, but skipped the swamp, and it turned out great. Plenty of snow on it now and the water holes on the south end of the power line are nuttin but small wet spots now. There is still a couple of very small wet spots in the Federal Fore
