Groomed trail 45 from Curtis, up to Trail 9 intersection. The southern half of the trail was thin and trail conditions did improve in the northern sections.
Trail 2 was also groomed from Trail 9 intersection South to H40 Hiawatha Trail. Again, northern sections of the trail had rideable snow but diminished the further south you go, to the point the groomer didn't have enough snow to go past H40 towards Naubinway. Logging operations continue on Trail 2, just North of Hiawatha Trail.
Freezing temps are setting up wet areas, but desperately in need of more snow.

Hey everyone just so you are in the know, thegrooming entities help each other out to ensure the trails in their region stay as smooth and safe as possible.
That being said, Curtis Area Trails and Seney Snowmobile Association are working in concert to ensure smooth trails over the next week or so, while Seney’s New Holland is in the repair shop. Due to the extreme amount of snowmobile traffic on trails 43,431 and 440, CURTIS is taking up one of our groomers to assist with grooming, so if you have Curtis Area Trails on your groomer trackers, you will notice that it will be up in that region helping out Seney.
The mutual support is not only a win, win for both clubs, as Seney gets help with the equipment aspects, Curtis will also benefit in getting some new groomer recruits the needed training, since we are still lacking the appropriate snowfall to groom on the Curtis trails and most importantly, the joint efforts in providing safe and smooth trails for all of our riders.
Curtis is also continuing the freeze down efforts on our trails with our other groomer. The wet areas are freezing up good with the cold temps, so when the needed snow flies, we will be ready. Thanks for your patience.

During our meltdown hiatus, we've been busy doing groomer maintenance and ended up pulling one burned up sled off the trail.
We have recently restarted the freeze down efforts on wet sections of trail 43, South of Sandtown Rd and also Trail 43 West of Curtis between Barrett Rd and Long Point Rd. There are also logging operations on two sections of the trail between Barrett Rd and Wolf Rd. Trail is rutted with very thin snow.
Trail 2, North of H40 (Hiawatha Trail) is also being logged, again rutted with thin snow cover.
Due to the overall lack of snow and wet areas, we have not groomed since the meltdown. We have been getting colder temps in aiding with the freeze down, but desperately needing more snow to work with.
As with most LE snows, snow cover does vary, the further north you go the snow depths do improve.

Curtis area trail work continues,we still need snow to make them rideable.

Groomed trails from Curtis Trail 43, to 45/457 Newberry, Helmer and McMillan Spurs on Thursday evening.
Friday we again groomed trails 43 from Curtis to 45/457 and also groomed trail 2 South from Trail 9 intersection to H40 Hiawatha Trail. Trail groomed up extremely well !
* Trail 43 gates on new trail coming into Curtis are now open and groomed.
* Trail 43 gate on South side of County Rd. 1140 (Sandtown Rd) that leads to Naubinway / Newberry intersection was closed last night due to water holes. Recommended temporary detour to continue on Co. Rd. 1140 / Sandtown Rd. to Forrest Trail, which is signed accordingly.
Most private property gates are scheduled to be opened on Dec. 15, although random gates may remain shut in wet areas that haven't frozen down yet.

The Groomer was out again last night and panned Trails 45/457 to the McMillian and Helmer spurs and then Trail 45 North to Trail 9 intersection.
Trails for the most part are holding up well with good compaction, although
Trail 45, west of M117 did experience some wheeled traffic that busted up portions of the trail and opened up a few wet areas and ruts, but overall holding up decent
Trail 2 was also panned from Trail 9 intersection South to Hiawatha Trail (H40). Trail 2, just north of Hiawatha Trail (H40) has some ongoing logging operations. Trails are marked accordingly and also holding up surprisingly well.
Please be aware of down trees and branches with the recent and ongoing heavy snowfall.
We have a Groomer headed to the Newberry trail tonight and also have a team of groomers on sleds headed out to aid freeze down in some wet areas.
One more reminder, you can always follow your clubs grooming activity by downloading and signing up for the Groomer Tracker App.
Again, big thanks to Fish and Hunt for supplying sleds for the ongoing trail work.

Busy day on the trails today. We had 3 groups of sleds working freeze down, wet areas, clearing fallen trees and then followed by groomer panning the trails.
Special thanks to Fish and Hunt for loaning the fleet of sleds and also the volunteers and club members for a hard days work.

The Curtis Area Trail Association would like to thank everyone that came out to the first annual tree lighting at the Erickson Center for the Arts tonight, they’re glad to be apart of the community!
Also thank you to Curtis True Value for the donation of the lights, it looks great!
Currently it’s snowing and we have around 8” with more to the north. Sunday some of our trails can open but a majority will need to get frozen up and the others we are unable to open until December 15 due to private landowners. We’ll keep you updated on what we’re able to get opened this coming week. Keep up the snow dances for a great season ahead!
